Chat History

The agent stores all chat conversations in Splunk's KV store, a key-value database that provides persistent storage for application data. Chat history is maintained in the chat_history collection on the Search Head where the app is installed, and is replicated across all members in Search Head Cluster deployments.

Storage and Access

Chat history is stored per user, ensuring privacy and security. Each user can only access and manage their own conversations.

Users can:

  • View their complete chat history
  • Resume previous conversations
  • Export conversations in text format
  • Delete individual conversations

KV store Requirements

Warning

Chat history functionality requires KV store to be enabled on the Search Head.

If KV store is disabled or unavailable, the agent will not be able to store or retrieve chat history. In this case, users will not see their previous conversations, and new conversations will not be persisted between sessions.
